Overclocking My New Dell XPS 630
I decided to do some research and overclock my new Dell XPS 630. Initially I kept it conservative and went for 3.00 GHz overclocking on the CPU only.
I posted the details at the Dell Community Support Forums: What I Did To My New XPS 630 To Overclock It
Since that post I've raised the CPU Core to 1.40v and the CPU FSB to 1.40v.
And since I have the faster 800MHz memory, I kept the FSB to DRAM at 1:1 by using an FSB QDR of 1422 MHz and a MEM DDR of 711 MHz. Which works out to a bus speed of approximately 355.5 MHz. And since I have a locked multiplier of 9X, that works out to about a 3.20 GHz overclock on the CPU. All other values in the BIOS remain the same at my first OC attempt.
I also added a rear case fan to help exhaust some of the additional heat.
Here's the thumbs of the rear case fan install:

I'm continuing to do testing with Prime95 v25.6 to make sure my overclocked system is stable.
Core temps are approximately 38°C to 42°C idle, and 61°C to 65°C fully loaded (small FFTs in Prime95).
But I couldn't resist checking my new 3DMark06 v1.1.0 score. It's now at 16556 3DMarks.
Update 11/10/2008: Because DCF changed their forum software and it appears that all links from my blog to DCF are going to break, I thought it best to archive my original overclocking post here. Click on the thumbnail to see my original overclocking post which was made on 04-25-2008.
